About The Shakti Awards

right decoration right decoration

To recognise and felicitate women achievers and celebrate the feisty spirit of womanhood, We Women Want has instituted the Shakti Awards. These are given out by our Chief Guests at conclaves held in both Delhi and Mumbai. So far we have had four conclaves which have been presided over by Nitin Gadkari (Cabinet Minister), Devendra Fadnavis (Chief Minister Maharashtra), Arif Mohammad Khan (Governor – Bihar), Atishi (then CM Delhi), Eknath Shinde (then CM Maharashtra), Smriti Irani (then a Cabinet Minister), Anurag Thakur (former Union Minister), Kiran Bedi (then Lt Gov Puducherry) and Tamilsai Soundarajan (ex Governor Telangana). The conclaves have seen celebrities, professionals, women from the armed forces, authors, chefs designers, scientists, entrepreneurs & dabba walis come on our platform for some engaging discussions and debates.

About We Women Want

we women want we women want

We Women Want is a weekly show on NewsX that picks up women related issues. We celebrate the winners and try to find solutions for those in need. In fact the show is fast becoming a weekend destination for women of all ages, since we pick up issues that affect our everyday lives.

The show has discussed issues ranging from laws that help women - and those that don't, domestic violence, breast cancer, IVF. Single mothers, Work-Life balance, Relationship, Marriages. women paralympic winners, fashion and body shaming, acid attack victims, women in the armed services, women on OTT, women in politics, sexual harassment, women in the work place and so on. Sometimes we also invite stakeholders to come as audience and ask questions to our panel.

We Women Want is fast becoming a support group for those who seek solutions or need help. We have had victims of domestic violence come on our show along with a panel of NGOs and lawyers to find solutions; doctors with patients having breast cancer, menopause tips or those looking for IVF. During the show on IVF we had a couple who had recently conceived, talk about their personal experience to create an awareness and give hope to childless couples. Usually few come forward on this sensitive topic. We have had women from the armed forces talk about their experiences, menstrual health workers, slum dwellers and so on. Everyday problems of negotiating work life balance are discussed as well as relationships, diet fads and dating apps.

The show features both the winners and those that need our support. We have featured Women politicians such as Smriti Irani, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Supriya Sule, Supriya Srinate, Ikra Hasan, Swati Mahiwal, Atishi, Aparajita Sarangi, Sushmita Dev. Bollywood & OTT celebs on the show include Shabana Azmi, Raveena Tandon, Taapsee Pannu, Rakul Preet Singh, Krishna Jackie Shroff, Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, Esha Gupta, Sonakshi Sinha, Humra Qureshi, Deepti Naval, Shefali Shah, Lara Dutta, Malaika Arora and Neena Gupta.

In our interactions we focus on social issues such as discussing Mental Health with Deepti Naval and body shaming with Sonakshi and Huma Qureshi. With Kiran Bedi we asked her for safety tips and also about women and the law.
